Dr. Joyce C. Tu is the founder and Director of ABA Unlimited, and of our related company, Center for Behavioral Sciences, which has been consulting and providing direct ABA services since 2004. Dr. Tu is also a professor, a published author and a consultant to schools and ABA organizations in the U.S. and abroad.
Dr. Tu is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with a doctorate in educational psychology from West Virginia University, specializing in applied behavior analysis. She has over twenty years’ experience providing one-on-one ABA services, training, workshops and supervision for professionals treating populations with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Dr. Tu’s specialization and research interests are chiefly in the area of verbal behavior—specifically, joint control and its role in listeners’ behavior. Dr. Tu frequently presents her own research on emerging topics in behavior analysis and is a regular speaker at national and international professional organizations, such as the Ai You Foundation, ABA International (ABAI) and the California Association for Behavior Analysis (CalABA).
Dr. Tu’s research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, including the European Journal of Behavior Analysis and The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. Notably, in 2010, Dr. Tu was a contributing author of the textbook (published in China) entitled, “Applied Behavior Analysis for Children with Special Needs.”
Dr. Tu is currently an adjunct professor teaching graduate students at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s Irvine campus—focusing principally on the experimental analysis of behavior and verbal behavior. She is also an assistant professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at the Florida Institute of Technology (FIT). In connection with her work for FIT, Dr. Tu has taught graduate courses in the U.S. and overseas, and is featured in a number of continuing education videos for ABA students and professionals.
Dr. Tu has previously served as an assistant professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at Ball State University and as an adjunct professor of Applied Behavior Analysis at California State University, Los Angeles.
Dr. Tu also extensively volunteers. She is the current Vice President of the B.F. Skinner Foundation and the Past President of CalABA, where she served on the board of directors for 10 years. Dr. Tu volunteers as program coordinator for the International Society for Behaviorology conferences and has served as a volunteer advisor to the Best Buddies board of directors.
